Jamal Injury Attorney, Cypress’ Highly Rated Accident Attorney
With a population of nearly 49,000, Cypress, California is beloved by its residents for its small town feel, commitment to community, and its belief in sustainable growth for businesses and families alike. In its mission statement, Cypress vows to sustain and enhance a “safe, attractive and quality environment in which to live, work and play.” Whether you are visiting or have lived in Cypress for years, you’re sure to feel at home.
Cypress City Pride
Cypress, California was originally named “Dairy City” for its important role in the dairy industry but in 1957, residents voted to change the name to Cypress because of the Cypress trees that had been planted around Cypress Elementary School to protect the 1895-built schoolhouse from the Santa Ana winds.
Since 1981, the City of Cypress has held an annual birthday event to celebrate the city, and today the celebration has grown into what is among the largest one-day events of this type in Orange County. In 2006, Cypress celebrated its 50th anniversary by creating and producing a televised oral history project that featured interviews with long-time residents. They also held a special City Council meeting that honored both residents and business owners. 2006 also saw the birth of a Summer Concerts on the Green Series which is a favorite activity of Cypress citizens today.
A Booming Economy
With a housing market that recently peaked, Cypress’s home values are in the top 5% in the country, showing that it is truly committed to growth. A variety of large employers have been attracted to the area including United Health Group, Cypress College, Siemens, Yamaha, Vans, and Costco, all of whom are among its top employers.
Having Fun in Cypress
In 1973, Cypress citizens voted to provide $2.75 million for the development of the Recreation and Park District, which continues to bolster the community even today. A large portion of the funds were used to construct a Community Center to meet the recreational needs of the residents. The rest of the money was used to develop more than 18 acres of Cypress’s parks including a nature park, 8 neighborhood parks, and 5 local parks.
The area is also near the Coyote Creek bicycle path and just under 8 miles from Seal Beach. If exciting athletic events are more your pace in terms of entertainment, you’ll love the thrill of a good horserace at the Los Alamitos Race Course, one of Cypress’s most popular destinations. A fun fact about Cypress is that it is home to notable residents and natives John Stamos, Tiger Woods, and Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman.
Traffic and Transportation
Because it is near popular destinations like Long Beach, Bolsa Chica, Seal Beach, Knott’s Berry Farm, and the Long Beach Airport, and close to crowded Interstates 5, 605, and 405, traffic can sometimes be problematic in and around Cypress.
All of the hustle and bustle in the area means that even when you’re least expecting it, a serious accident resulting in costly medical bills, lost wages, disability, and pain and suffering could happen.
